Josiah Day House a historic site loacted at 70 Park Street in West Springfield Massachusetts. Built in 1754, it's the only known brick salt box house of its period in the United States, at present. Historical landmark in West Springfield MA. The oldest known brick salt-box style home in the United States. Owned by four generations of the Josiah Day family until sold to the Ramapogue Historical Society in 1903. All furnishings and artifacts are appropriate to the time period (pre-1902), including many original Day family items. While the main part of the house has remained in its original state, an addition was added to the back of the house in 1812, to accomodate Aaron Day II, the grand-son of Josiah, and son of Aaron I. Aaron II and his family moved in with his parents and utilized the new quarters. Once the house was purchased by the Ramapogue Historical Society in 1903, it was perserved in it's original state, and has become a treasure for the Town of West Springfield.
