Scheduled Ancient Monument. Dating to 3000 BC. Neolithic burial chamber. Limestone megalithic slab stone over entrance portal. Cotswold stone flank walls to forecourt. The mound is known locally as "Hetty Pegler's Tump" after the 17th C landowner's name. The underground structure is of the ‘transepted’ type. It has a cruciform plan. The central passageway has side chambers; and leads to an end chamber. The 'gallery grave' was restored by English Heritage in 2011. #monument
