1921 Dentzel Carousel located at Glen Echo Park, near Washington DC, is today exquisitely restored and functional. Glen Echo, now a historic site, started in 1891 as a National Chautauqua Assembly where people could participate in cultural activities. In 1899 it became a segregated amusement park. It closed in the late 1960s it closed, then reopened in the 1970s as a community center for culture, education and the arts.
