This detail illustrates a masonry window sill condition in a framed wall. Wood blocking is applied over the sheathing around the perimeter of the opening, along with a subsill to provide slope for the finish sill. The blocking and subsill are wrapped with a transition membrane which engages with the air/moisture/vapor barrier in the field of the wall providing continuous resistance to air and moisture. Continuous insulation in the wall cavity offers excellent thermal control. Veneer anchors are fastened through the insulation, through the sheathing, and into the studs, with supplementary anchors near the opening as required. Finally, the window and metal sill are installed. This detail incorporates a vertical brick expansion joint in-line with the brick return at the jamb, as well as a horizontal gap for vertical expansion of the brick at the sill.
