The ES44AH is a diesel electric locomotive built by General Electric Transportation as part of its Evolution Series which began production in 2004.
Starting in May of 2023, CSX Transportation began a program of painting General Electric ES44AH locomotives in heritage paint schemes commemorating its predecessor railroads. These locomotives can be seen pulling freight trains across the CSX system.
CSX's newest heritage unit, number 1981, was painted to commemorate the acquisition of Pan Am Railways in June of 2022.
