The M5 Rifle is the standard issue assault rifle of the UFS military. It is a closed bolt, air cooled, selective fire weapon chambered in the 6x45mm intermediate cartridge. The weapon is constructed of steel and polymer. The weapon is ambidextrous. Switching which way casings are ejected is done by reversing the bolt. The rifle has a rear sight with integrated accessory rail. The sights have tritium dots for low-light use. The bottom handgaurd has an integrated accessory rail. Additional rails can be screwed to the forend. The trigger guard pivots downward for use with large gloves. The chrome-lined barrel terminates in a flash hider, and a suppressor can be attached. The magazine holds 30 rounds. Field stripping is done by pressing the rear button, pivoting the receiver, removing the recoil guide, and removing the bolt. Rate of fire is 600 rounds per minute. Maximum effective range is 575 yards.
