Today I saw a film on You Tube about the shocking state of homelessness you have over there in the USA. The man behind the project to provide homeless people with these shelters is called Peter Samuelson. He is a British born American film producer who invented this idea.
Earlier today I emailed the company to offer my voluntary services as a Product Designer and in the interim time I have created this SketchUp model of what the structure would look like with a porch on the side. The porch would not only provide additional shelter from the elements but would also give the person somewhere to cook.
If you look closely at the model you can see a small Rocket Stove on a stone in the porch. These simple stoves give out so much heat for both cooking and general heating and the flame can be controlled by way of mufflers or covers over the top pipe. I know they work well because I built one in the real and it works and I can use it in the entrance to my tent.
