The most well-known female comic-book superhero of all time, Wonder Woman is an incredible combination of power and attractive appearance. The history of the character dates back to All-Star Comics #8, which was published at the end of 1941. At the time, she did not wear a belt. Her emblem, a gold eagle, was placed on the red bodice. For more than 40 years, the gold eagle remained Wonder Woman’s main symbol. In 1982 the emblem featuring interlacing letters “WW” was introduced. Its author was Milton Glaser, the artist who developed a “bullet” logo for DC five years earlier. The glowing belt was shaped into the letter “W” at the time of Infinite Crisis (2005–2006). The star emblem that could be seen on the Wonder Woman’s tiara has now turned into an eight-pointed starburst. The current designer, Lindy Hemming, was trying to make the heroine look not only athletic, but also alluringly feminine. The symbol seen on the belt represents a winged letter “W”, which stands for “Wonder Woman”.
