Built in 1987 the Olympic Oval is home to the fastest ice in the world, attracting the best athletes and coaches from Canada and around the world to train and compete in the world class facility. It currently holds 26 of 30 world records. The unique roof on this building won several awards, both for design and innovative construction methods. Its main feature is the intersecting precast, post-tensioned arch girder system which clear spans 90 metres and intricate variations at each end to meet the circular perimeter,.
