The Sorgvliet coffee plantation lays along the Commewijne river, and was founded in the 18th century. The current main house of the plantation was built in 1882 by master-carpenter M. del Prado. It is the residence of the current estate-owner, mr. Gerard Koenraadt (de Ploeg inc.). There's no coffee any more, but the plantation has a herd of 900 heads cattle.
