The Crescent Macaroni and Cracker Company built this building as a factory around 1915. The company later became known as Crescent Baking Company but closed in 1991. The building was in awful shape when the Alexander Company converted the building to 59 apartmetns in 2005. Those apartments opened at the same time as the Waterloo Mills Lofts which were directly to the north of the Crescent Lofts. The Waterloo Mills and the Crescent Lofts were the redevelopment projects which showed the economic viability of loft style apartments in downtown Davenport. Since the redevelopment of those two buildings, there have been a number of loft apartment buildings which have popped up in the downtown.
