Library bookshelf

Library bookshelf

Paul B.
Ikea hack using 5x1.06m "Billy" bookcases and 5x2.37m billy bookcases (upside down) - total 4m wide x 3.45 high. This was my original design prior to purchasing stock. Some changes from the drawing were 1. There was no gap between the two bookcases - I sat the top of the tall bookcase directly onto the top of the small bookcase, which left no space for the decorative piece. 2. I didn't build the base which is shown here. The bottom of the smaller bookcase was sufficiently high enough without needing to lift it further - you may decide to build a base to sit it on if your floor was uneven. 3. The rod at the top was for a library ladder - we haven't installed one yet, as we haven't found one we liked - and we have carpet in the room which makes a library ladder problematic. 4. The decorative piece along the top was procured separately via my local timber place. Lastly, make sure the bookshelf is securely fastened to the wall!
