Most people expect the Ark to be streamlined to look like a ship. Ships are streamlined as so to move faster. The Ark is not designed to go anywhere! It is designed to float in the most stable position possible, so a box shape is reasonable. The Bible tells the the ark was to be made of gopher wood, and sealed with pitch. The dimensions written are 300x50x30 cubits. Most people use the Common cubit (450mm) for describing the ark, and I prefer that now, but by my research at time of modelling, the ark should be measured by the Royal cubit (520mm). I though, most references to cubits in the Bible appear to mean Royal Cubits. Some have proposed pine trees were used as the gopher wood and pine resin for the pitch, but we know that gopher wood is absolutely suitable, and so is pitch from the same. Ark literally means box, or chest. This rectangular shape specified in the Bible is one of the most stable hull designs ever, and surely best for the Flood that it was made for. The Ark, 120 years in the making, may be the biggest timber ship ever made, rivaled only by the Chinese treasure ships of the 1400s. Any questions please ask using the contact button below. I have uploaded similar ark in the past, but it is a different model.
