The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority runs a network of commuter passenger rail, operating a total of 12 lines. These trains can be seen with a variety of equipment, their most commonly used classes of locomotive being the newly rebuilt F40PH-3C, the GP40MC, and the HSP-46, with single deck and double deck coaches from various builders. This train includes an F40PH-3C with BTC-1B and CTC-1B single deck coaches by Bombardier, and BTC-3 and CTC-3 coaches built by MBB. All single deck trains are uncommon nowadays, as usually there is a Kawasaki double deck coach, BTC-4 or newer, toward the front of the train, especially on the Fitchburg, Haverhill, and Newburyport/Rockport branches.
