The William Rankine building, designed by Hurd Rolland Architects, was completed in 2006, and is an attachment to the Alexander Graham Bell Building, built in 2004. Together these buildings house the School of Engineering for the University of Edinburgh.
The building is the first example of the implementation of the University’s Sustainable Design policy. This policy aims to integrate sustainable design features in a holistic way, creating an interesting and comfortable environment with low running costs and without the penalty of excessive capital cost. This approach to sustainable design has been termed “pragmatic sustainability”. #Alexander_Graham_Bell_Building #Kings_Buildings #University_of_Edinburgh #William_Rankine_Building
