Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft have a flattened shaped body, which produces most of the lift, and the wings contributing the balance. The wings are smoothly blended into the body.Currently, both NASA and Boeing are exploring BWB designs on the X-48.Studies suggest that BWB aircraft, could carry from 450 to 800 passengers and achieve fuel savings of over 20 percent.Since 2000, NASA has been developing a remote controlled model with a 6.4 m (21 ft) wingspan.
