Salmisaari-B is a coal power plant in Helsinki. It was constructed in 1984 and has one boiler and one steam turbine, capable of producing 160MegaWatts of electricity and 300MegaWatts of district heating. During summer time when heating is not needed as much, the power can be used in central cooling. The plant uses 450 000 metric tonnes of coal a year and produces electricity and heating with a thermal efficiency of 89%.
