Renaissance Tower started life as life much different than it is now. When it was completed it was Dallas's tallest, and known as the First international Building, later in 1982 it became Interfirst Plaza, then Interfirt Two, and then to its Current. But if youve ever seen the TV show "Dallas" you prbably know it as the Ewing Oil Building. When it was constructed it was a plain box with only one type of glass, but after the completion of several new downtown skyscraper the owners wanted it to become more recognizable, so in 1986 five floors were added, 5 decorative spires were added to the roof, one on each corner and a tall one in the center, the glass had unique crisscross pattern modeled after the shape of the interior support were added to the outside, and the base was redoe with marble and steel, resembling the roof spires. Currently, counting spires, it is Dallas's second tallest building at 270M and 56 floors.
