This detail illustrates a reinforced single wythe concrete masonry wall as infill to a structural steel frame, also known as a hybrid masonry and steel structural system. The top of the wall is anchored to the steel beam with a series of angles, transferring design loads to the masonry. A gap is maintained between the underside of the beam and the top of the CMU wall sized for drift and deflection of the beam. The top courses of CMU are horizontally reinforced and grouted, and serve as a bond beam. This detail shall not be used for construction without the approval of a licensed design professional. The person using this detail shall be responsible for its complete design and proper application.
