This is an easy to build 12 volt electric sailplane winch. The frame is cut from a single piece of plywood (1/2" x 24" x 24") The motor is a 1954 to 1964, 6 volt long shaft Ford starter. A 12 volt Ford solenoid is also used' The line spool is made from a 2" wooden rolling pin (with 5/8" hole thru). The turnaround spool is a Schwinn bicycle front spindle and axle. There is no special machining required. All cutting can be done with a sabre saw and hand tools.
