GE ES40DC - CSX Transportation

TRG
The GE Evolution Series is a series of six axle diesel electric locomotives introduced in 2004 to be compliant with the EPA's emission standards. The ES44DC was introduced in 2005 as the DC counterpart to the ES44AC. These locomotives had a power output of 4,400 horsepower, and ran on DC traction motors. CSX rosters 302 of these locomotives. 301 are still in active service, while one, numbered 5488 was involved in an accident and scrapped. In 2010, CSX downgraded the engines to 4,000 horsepower and were reclassified as ES40DC. They are numbered 5200-5501. These locomotives can still be seen operating across the CSX system, with some having received the new Yn3c paint scheme.
