The 57ft Spine Car is an articulated railcar which is a product created by TrinityRail, or Trinity. These railcars come in either 3-unit or 5-unit sets. They are capable of transporting piggyback trailers or single-stack shipping containers.
A large number of these railcars are rostered by TTX, or Trailer Train, which was a subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Railroad which became its own company.
These railcars can be found on any railroad that runs intermodal trains. Single stack containers are typically used on rail lines with low clearances which would prohibit double-stack traffic.
This model includes 25ft and 53ft UPS trailers, which can be found on high-priority intermodal trains on the CSX system.
