Horizontal Sliding Window

Horizontal Sliding Window

To me, this is just the sort of window I would want to look out from. "Lets start at the beginning, and place ourselves in the position of someone who would be left in a completely dark room and be given the opportunity of opening in the wall any kind of hole to let the light in. "If the walls were made of a substance he could cut without too much difficulty, he would first cut a roundish horizontal whole, so that he could see to the limit of his whole field of vision. The field of vision is a curved ellipse drawn on the ideal sphere of vision that surrounds us, its greater axis being in a horizontal plane when we look standing up. [ . . . ] The nearest approach to the ellipse of vision would be in this case the horizontal rectangle that circumscribes this ellipse. "It is comforting to see that here again the peasant has shown the way and, undisturbed by all fashions and styles that came his way, has kept on designing horizontal openings throughout all history. We find them in European farmhouses 1000 years old, as wel as in pioneer log cabins.", Paul Jaques Grillo, Form Function and Design #horizontal #landscape #paned #sliding #window
