Named after eminent political leader Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, the theatre stands on Bijoy Sarani. Initiated in 1995, the project cost Tk 52 crore to facilitate space research and astronomical study. The prime objective of the project is to attract the youths, particularly the students, to planetary studies. The unique architectural style of the light blue metallic dome easily draws attention of the passers-by. The imposing structure of the planetarium stands on 14 pillars, called Free Height Roman Columns, seven on each side, at the entrance. The images of those columns will be reflected on the three fountains in front of the theatre. The planetarium houses three exhibition halls where evolution process of the animal world will be on display. A 250-seat lecture hall will be used for holding seminars and symposia on issues pertaining to science. The 125000 square feet planetarium with fountains, food shops, lobby, library and audio-video units, has a parking space of 150000 square feet. A four-storey administrative building is located at the back of the theatre. The entrance fee has been fixed at Tk 40. #Bhasani #Novo #tannu #Theatre
