Metal Scissor Threaded Rod Lift

Metal Scissor Threaded Rod Lift

Anthony G.
Platform controlled motor turns a threaded rod that lifts platform for work on a first or second story house roof or walls. Notice that both versions of the platform have three sides, not four. You may wish to add a fourth side for safety. I left it out for ease of work on an adjacent house wall. However, a fourth railing is in order for tree pruning, and the like. I recommend you cover the scissor lift when not in use to prevent corrosion damage to the motor and wiring. Also, the threaded rod must have some lubricant to function properly. Lack of grease will cause more friction, which will overwork the motor, causing it to fail sooner. This type of mechanism is very secure because the platform will not descend while the motor is off, unlike a hydraulic mechanism, that could fail from a leak and cause an injury from a sudden platform descent. It is also cheaper to build than a hydraulic scissor lift. Just make sure you do the math on the electric motor size for the weight lo lift.
