The Georgia State Capitol was built between 1884 and 1889. Its monumental neoclassical architecture resembles the United States capitol, as do many state other state capitols. The building was designed by Willoughby J. Edbrooke and Franklin P. Burnham. It was built by Miles and Horne and George Crouch worked on all the ornamental sculpture. The 272 foot capitol has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places and it has been named a National Historic Landmark.
