The AAV 7A1 is an Assault Amphibious Vehicle that is in service with the US Marine Corps. It is an armored transport vehicle meant to carry troops during shore assaults on entering the mainland of an opposing force. The AAV 7A1 was a replacement to the LVTP-5 that saw service in the Vietnam War.
