The Doric order is the oldest of Greek architectural orders. Its name is due to the Peloponnesian origin, even if it spread from the VII century BC to the rest of the Greek territory and to the Greek colonies in Italy.
In this order are built all the surviving temples of Magna Graecia and some of the most important buildings of Greece itself, among which the Parthenon in the Acropolis of Athens and the Temple of Zeus in Olympia.
