Blue as a cornflower field, the cathedral is the oldest preserved architectural monument of Khmelnytskyi. Just imagine, the first mention of the shrine dates back to 1670! Firstly, the building was made of wood, so it is not surprising that during a fire in 1822, when a large part of Proskuriv burned down, the church was also destroyed. But the temple was literally reborn from the ashes, however, in a new, brick form, and this is how the church has survived to this day.
In the days of the Soviet Union, the authorities dishonored the cathedral in different ways: it was used as a warehouse, as an archive, and even as a planetarium and motorcycle attraction. But in the late 1980s, everything fell into place: the cathedral was restored and returned to the faithful, and in 1995 it received the status of an architectural monument.
