A typical commercial townhouse, built in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Downstairs is the shop, and upstairs the shopkeeper's house. Maagdenstraat is a shopping street in downtown Paramaribo, and formerly the whole street was full of this type of elegant wooden shops.
