This example shows how to stack multiple gears to turn a long arm. The gear ratio is 9:125, or about 14x. The arm will rotate 14 times slower than the motor turns but will have 14 times more torque (turning force). Experience shows that a high gear ratio like this allows the arm to stay put when there is no signal to the motor (rather than sinking down by its own weight, driving the motor backwards). I wouldn't recommend the claw mechanism on the end of the arm for a competition robot, however, as claws tend to be slow and hard to use. #claw_arm #Clean_Sweep #FTC #gear #robot #VEX #VRC
