(Washingtonia Robusta)
It is the only palm tree native to California. Ironically, the palm trees cultivated in urban regions like Los Angeles are in fact Mexican Fan Palms. The two species share almost indistinguishable similarities. Indigenous people once used their fronds to weave into baskets.
