The Giant Cross was erected in 1995 by Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ Ministries just outside of Groom, Texas near Interstate 40. The cross is 190ft. tall with a horizontal span of 110ft. and features a steel frame with aluminum siding. According to CLJC Ministries, the cross is visible from 20 miles away and gets over 1,000 visitors per day. Surrounding the cross are many smaller crosses and a number of sculptures portraying the stations of the cross. The town of Groom had 857 people as of the year 2000 census and sits on the path of Historic Route 66.
