A 'CATHEDRAL OF THE SILVER SCREEN!'

Bob M.
From the Early 1930s most UK Towns had at least one Cinema. The Era of ‘Art Deco’ led to a proliferation of striking buildings. Indeed, the genre carried the name ‘Cathedrals of the Silver Screen!’ Many have been lost to Town Centre Redevelopment, and the new generation of Multi-Screen (Out of Town) Cinemas. I came across this example a few days ago. This Gaumont Cinema from the 1930s (Wednesbury, West Midlands) was last used as a Cinema in the late 1970s. Since then it was used as a Bingo Hall, but has fallen into disrepair. Here are a few ideas to give the Façade its original look. Zoom out to the Extents of the Model to see a Photograph of how the building looks – Definitely in need of some TLC!
