GE P40DC - CT Rail

Train Repair Guy
The P40DC is part of the GE Genesis series of locomotives, which was produced from 1992 to 2001. This locomotive utilizes a monocoque carboy design, meaning the chassis and superstructure are one component. They are capable of producing a power output of 4,200 horsepower. The GE Genesis locomotives were the replacement for Amtrak aging F40PH fleet and are currently one of the most ubiquitous locomotives on most of Amtrak's routes, excluding the electrified Northeast Corridor. Connecticut's commuter rail, CT Rail, purchased twelve P40DC locomotives from Amtrak, numbered 6700 to 6711. They operate commuter trains on their Hartford Line between Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA.
