The Metro Monorail (formerly Sydney Monorail, and originally TNT Harbourlink) runs in a loop through the city of Sydney, Darling Harbour and Chinatown. There are eight stations on 3.6 km of track, with four trains operating simultaneously out of a total of six. It was initially known as the Darling Harbour Monorail and opened on 21 July 1988. It is now operated for Metro Transport Sydney by Veolia, who also operates the Sydney Metro Light Rail. Each train consists of seven carriages with seating for 48 passengers and they run at 33 km/h. A complete circuit takes 12 minutes. NOTE: This model "rests" on the model of the Pyrmont Bridge to get across the bay. Without the bridge model the monorail appears to hang in mid-air. Modelled by Peter Olsen, Brighton-le-Sands, Sydney, Australia. www.schoolzonelights.com.au #darling_harbour #metro_monorail #monorail #peter_olsen #sydney
