Although the 90s were years of union struggles, they were also years of great development for the national airline. In 1993 ALITALIA carries 38.7% of passengers on international flights and is the third European airline after Lufthansa and British Airways. In 1995 it transported 50% of all Italians who took a plane. In the same year the operating company Alitalia Team (red square logo next to the Altalia writing on the aircraft fuselage), was created to manage low-cost medium and long-haul connections. For this reason the Boeing 767-300s enter the fleet, being small wide-body aircraft, for the management of low-cost medium and long-haul connections. The Boeing 767-300s used by Alitalia between 1995 and 2012 were 14, with 223 and 211 seat configuration in double class, mainly used for seasonal charter flights to exotic and holiday destinations.
