The lighter, also called a cigarette lighter, is a portable device capable of producing a flame of its own using fuel such as LPG contained in a special tank and powered by a piezoelectric or piezoelectric device from which a spark triggers combustion.
The first lighter was made by Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner in 1823 (4 years before the match was invented).
Prior to LPG as fuel was usually gasoline, still preferred by some manufacturers including Zippo. The preference for this compared to conventional liquefied gas is due to the insensitivity of gasoline to the temperature, consequently the generated flame is constant at any temperature the lighter is.
They are currently divided into two categories, rechargeable and "disposable". The first are of the most cured and technologically best bill, and are mainly made of metal, sometimes precious (silver and gold), and many models are collectibles. Uses and disposals (produced and manufactured since 1973) are made of plastic, cost less, and as the name says, depletion of gas is useless and thrown away.
These include the Clipper lighters, special lighters and commonly used as a disposable lighter, given the cost comparable to any other plastic lighter on the market, but still equipped with a gas refill valve and a plug-in lock Removable to allow the replacement of the stone.
