The F59PHR is the Metrolink (reporting mark SCAX) rebuild of their EMD F59PH locomotives. A total of seven locomotives were rebuilt, while the rest on their roster were retired. In 2018, five of which were purchased by NCDOT, which runs the Amtrak Piedmont Service. SCAX 856 received an unusual paint job, with white primer, a black painted roof, and minimal turquoise Metrolink markings and road numbers. Requested by AviationA340
