Kurt Knispel is a German tank commander enlisted in the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. His extensive experience ranged from being a panzer loader, then a gunner and finally as a tank commander to which he fought most of his battles in the Eastern Front from Operation Barbarossa (1941-1942) to the defense of the German Homeland against invading Soviet forces. He is credited with having 168 kills though some may vary as high as 195 kills, with most of them during the campaigns in Russia and the Baltics. He died while in command of his Tiger II tank on the 28th of April 1945, aged 23.
