The Trabant (often called Trabi) was build by the east german manufacturer VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau, part of the Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau (IFA). Between 1957 and 1991 four variants with in total 3,051,385 cars have been produced. As it's the most common car of east germany, the Trabant became one of the symbols of the GDR time.
