It is a square tower with lantern and gallery, attached to the seaward end of a 2-story Icelandic Coast Guard station, and is located a few miles southeast of Horn, the northernmost cape of northwestern Iceland, and only about 17.5 km (11 mi) south of the Arctic Circle.
