The Bridge designed by William R. Hutton and Edward H. Kendall connects the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx. It was constructed between October 1886 and December 1888. The bridge consists of two steel arches, both 155 meters wide, and masonry approaches. Vertical clearance between river surface and the top of the arch is 41 meters during high tide.
