Multnomah Lodge No.1 A.F&A.M - Masonic Lodge, Oregon City

Ron Hall 76
This lodge building was built in 1907 with its cornerstone laid August 27, 1907. The Multnomah Lodge No. 1 dates to 1846 and was the first lodge west of the Rockies and received its charter from the Grand Lodge of Missouri. It was organized in 1846 after the preliminary meeting called in the first issue of the Oregon Spectator. The charter was brought across the plains by ox-team. The Masons used the third floor of the building as the lodge hall and rented the spaces on second and fourth as offices, and the storefronts on the ground level for retail use. The masonic lodge continues to meet on the upper floors. #Clackamas_County #Free_Masons #historic_preservation #lodge #Main_Street #Masonic_Temple #Masons #Oregon_City
