Hofwijck was the residence of Constantijn Huygens (1596- 1687, The Hague) was a Dutch poet and composer, Secretary to two Princes, and the father of the scientist Christiaan Huygens who was a Dutch mathematician who patented the first pendulum clock, which greatly increased the accuracy of time measurement.
