The Harkonnen Assault Ornithopters were used as fighters or as small transport vessels by House Harkonnen. These ships were capable of carrying 4 passengers and were designed for military purposes and equipped with weaponry. Usually these weapons were lasguns, but they also carried air-to-air missiles and repeating maula gatling guns. They were heavily shielded by Hull plating and, even on the planet Arrakis, they were equipped with Holztman Shield Generators. Harkonnen 'thopters were winged vessels that were capable of flight through an hybrid system of jet propulsion, Anti-gravity by a Holtzman Suspensor Field and by mimmicking the movements of Insects. While the jets were the primary propulsion system, the wings assisted in maintaining altitude, as well as maneuvered the vessels (usually in Combat and space flight the wings remained in folded position).
