The 'Namer' (meaning both Leopard and contraction of Merkava APC) is a Isreali made APC based on the Merkava tank. The Mk.1 version is the intial version based on the Merkava Mk.1 was entered into combat trials round 2005. The Namer is a modern APC based on combat experience the IDF has with its older APC's like the M-113 and Achzarit.
