David L.
Collaborated design between clients and HAO Design Pty Ltd A new house on a vacant, newly sub-divided, 700sqm battle-axe allotment. Design challenges included: A great number of significant native trees on site need to be retained (grey dots marked on the model) Visual and acoustic privacy, the subject site is surrounded by 10 established neighbours. Strategies adopted to overcome design constraints included: Detached double lock up garage, connect to main building by floating bridge; Separate entries, one for residence and one for guest; Multi-split level design to protect tree roots. ESD (ecological sustainable design) principles used includes: Cross ventilation, north-east orientation for solar access, 10,000 L water tank, renewable building materials - timber frame and weatherboard clad, concrete slab at living area acting as thermal mass, native plants and outdoor fire place. The result is an open plan dwelling, fitted well into the context, meet clients' design brief and promote indoor-outdoor living for all seasons. #3D_modeling_service #Architect #Architecture #Australia #BASIX #building_designer #Building_Sustainability_Index #Chatswood #cross_ventilation #ESD_design #floating_bridge #Green_Architecture #Green_design #HAO_Design_Pty_Ltd #home #Indoor_Outdoor_Living #infill_development #lowdensity_residential #native_trees #Natural_ventilation #new_house #Northern_Beaches_Architect #Rain_water_tank #renewable_building_materials #Single_dwelling #skillion_roof #slope_site #subdivision #Sydney #Sydney_Based_Architect #Sydney_Northern_Beaches #Willoughby_City_Council
