In 1964, IBM introduced a new hard drive system utilizing an advanced portable cartridge mounted single 14-inch hard disk providing 1.024 MB of data storage, known as the 2315 Cartridge Disk, designed to work with the new 1964 IBM 1800 Data Acquisition and Control System (DACS) System, and it’s variant IBM 1130 Scientific Computer System introduced a year later in 1965. For the 1130 system, the new drive was designated the IBM 2310, and consisted of three separate free-standing upright units – the single drive Model B-1, the dual drive Model B-2, and the triple drive Model B-3, along with a possible single disk drive incorporated into the 1130 System’s 1131 Model 2/3/4 CPU Console / Keyboard / Printer units. Use of the external B-1/B-2 drives required the IBM 1133 Multiplex Control Unit as an interface between the 1130 system and the drives. This model represents a B-2 single drive system with its’ 1133 Control Unit, with drive details displayed using the model scene tabs..
