The SD70ACe is a six-axle diesel electric locomotive manufactured by Electro-Motive Diesel, formerly the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors. Production of this locomotive began in 2004 as a replacement to the SD70MAC, and is still ongoing today.
BNSF currently rosters 640 SD70ACe locomotives. 30 of those units are known as "Thundercabs", distinguishable by their roof mounted headlights and lack of noise insulating gasket on the hood. Because of noise complaints by the crews, Thundercabs are relegated to trailing in lashups and use as DPUs in long trains. This model portrays the EMD "WhisperCab" units that BNSF ordered with nose-mounted headlights.
